Jindal wants to eliminate state income taxes and replace them with other tax hikes.

The Republican governor will describe his plan in person to the House and Senate tax committees on Thursday.

The presentation by the governor and his leaders on the rewrite effort is expected to include specifics on how high Jindal proposes to raise the sales and cigarette taxes, what services he wants to newly tax and what tax breaks he wants to remove from the books.

Lawmakers will decide the fate of the ideas in the upcoming legislative session that begins April 8. The House Ways and Means Committee will begin combing through the proposal next week.
