BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU students and staff are getting their first look at the man expected to be the university system's next president, F. King Alexander.

Alexander is president of California State University Long Beach and the lone finalist for the LSU job. He planned public forums Thursday with LSU staff and students. He'll meet with faculty on Friday.

Alexander's visit to Baton Rouge comes after the LSU Faculty Senate questioned his credentials to be the next system president and chancellor of the flagship campus.

Despite the questions, LSU Board of Supervisors Chairman Hank Danos says he expects the board to approve Alexander's hiring next week, and he praises Alexander's background.

The Oxford-educated Alexander has led Cal State Long Beach since 2006. Before that, he was president of Murray State University in Kentucky.
