Mavens and music

Maven Womenswear grand opening

The folks over at Maven Menswear have long been known for their shindigs with live music, good eats and even better clothes and tonight the ladies take their turn as Christina Barbier and crew open Maven Womenswear in full.

In the tradition of First Fridays in River Ranch's Main Street, the celebration will include nibbles from Clementine and live jams from Sassafras Jubilee with the beautiful voice of Andrea Cohen (who rocked a Maven dress, in fact, in IND's April fashion issue).

The blue dress she rocked at the photoshoot is just the sort of thing Christina plans to offer her customers - pieces that can be worn by both mom and daughter. With a variety of looks we've peeked thus far, it looks like variety will be the spice of Maven's life. Two of this IND Styler's fav looks thus far show such diversity - a bold jacket and a nearly vintage denim combo.

The edgy black and white stripe jacket (black and white and striped all over is huge, huge spring) has an amazing versatility thanks to a zipper at the bottom that takes it from cropped to nearly peplum shape - just what you can rock with a floral print to do a fearless print combo or over a solid, sleek dress in spring's must have pastels. Then there is the vintage-flavored combo of high-waisted jeans, lace top and ballet flats with pieces that can each rock separately and together scream for a night at Festival next week.

The event from 6 9 is at the new store's location on the end of Main Street in River Ranch just across the way from the men's store (in the old Tenzie & Co. space).
