Acadiana 365’s Pick of the Day: The Backyard Series

The April edition of the Backyard Series tackles the Civil War in Acadiana.

The Center for Louisiana Studies is bringing its Backyard Series back to Vermilionville this Tuesday evening with a boon for local history buffs when it covers the Civil War in Acadiana.

The discussion is led by Dr. Henry Robertson, a professor of history at Louisiana College, and will cover the apprehensive months following the Union Army's taking of New Orleans in April 1862 and its subsequent march into Bayou Lafource that marked the invasion of Federal soldiers into South Louisiana.

The Backyard Series is free and open to the public and will begin on Tuesday, April 9, at 6:30 p.m., at the Vermilionville Performance Center located at 300 Fisher Road.
