U.S. marshals in Philadelphia have caught a 43-year-old Louisiana man who walked away from his trial on charges including vehicular homicide.
LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - U.S. marshals in Philadelphia have caught a 43-year-old Louisiana man who walked away from his trial on charges including vehicular homicide.
Wade Lohse, of Youngsville, was arrested without incident Tuesday afternoon near a train station and the Pennsylvania Convention Center, said Deputy Marshal Corey Britt in Lafayette, La.
"It's only been three weeks but it seemed longer than that. He's been running hard," Britt said.
Lohse walked out of his trial in Lafayette on March 25. Last week, he surfaced in an 11-minute YouTube video, saying he left the courthouse in part because the prosecutor threatened him with a life sentence.
He was being tried on a charge of vehicular homicide in the death of 29-year-old Cacie Barras, of Lafayette, and with simple burglary and possessing a firearm after a felony conviction.
Britt has said that Lohse has convictions in New Jersey including carjacking and aggravated assault on police and in Pennsylvania for burglary. He also has a New Orleans conviction as a felon who had a firearm.
