In an effort to generate dialogue between teachers and the administration, Lafayette Parish Schools Superintendent Dr. Pat Cooper announced a series of faculty forums slated to begin next week.

In a press release issued Wednesday, Angela Morrison, school system director of community collaborations and partnerships, states that the forums will allow Cooper to educate the district's teachers on the ins and outs of his Turnaround Plan. Cooper, according to the release, also will give an update on various factors affecting the school system, which will be followed by an open floor discussion to allow for teacher feedback.

"The goal of these faculty meetings, which will be closed to the public and press, is to give Dr. Cooper, LPSS leadership and teachers the opportunity to have a free exchange of information and ideas," the release states. "Following the series of forums, LPSS will release a summary of the various issues raised and any plans or actions to be taken."

The first of the five forums is scheduled for Monday, April 29, at Lafayette High School. Teachers wishing to attend must pre-register, according to the release.
