Acadiana 365’s Pick of the Day: Les Vues Cultural Film Series

The Les Vues Cultural Film series returns tonight with a screening of the 1981 cultural gem Southern Comfort.

Vermilionville's free monthly film series returns tonight to the Vermilionville Performance Center with a screening of the 2001 film Southern Comfort. This month's Les Vues event will be curated by Zack Godshall, Filmmaker-in-Residence at Louisiana State University.

Southern Comfort follows a National Guard unit conducting a remote training exercise in Louisiana who suddenly find themselves at odds with local Cajuns after one of the guardsmen steals their canoes. With little provisions and no ammunition in an unfamiliar territory, the squad realizes their predicament parallels the conditions of Vietnam.

The April entry of the Les Vues Film Series begins Monday, April 29, at 6:30 p.m. Though admission is free, a $5 donation is asked to be put towards screening and curating costs. For more information on the Les Vues Film Series, call (337) 233-4077 or visit Vermilionville.org.
