TOP CHEFS
CAJUN COOKING (BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE): Ages 9-16. We eat good, cher. Help preserve the culture of Cajun cooking by having your child learn to prepare traditional Cajun dishes and learn about culture at the same time. CENA SUMMER COOKING CLASSES: Ages 6 and up. Girls and Boys will enjoy this course that teaches kitchen basics with a focus on nutrition, manners and the math/science of cooking. RAGIN' CAJUNS ATHLETICS CAMPS: Ages 5 and up. Ragin' Cajuns Athletics offers something for every athlete: baseball, football, basketball, soccer and volleyball. FREE SPIRITS
CAJUN & CREOLE SUMMER CAMP FOR KIDS: This year's Louisiana Folk Roots' summer camp will take place at Lafayette's historic Vermilionville Living History Museum and Folklife Park. It's a super week of intensive instruction on guitar, accordion and fiddle; French singing; dance classes and other cultural workshops; and a fun field trip, all featuring an all-star slate of instructors and guest artists. Past instructors included Kristi Guillory, Brazos Huval, Yvette Landry, Corey "Lil' Pop" Ledet, Chris Segura, Dave Trainer, Mitch Reed, Henry Hample and Courtney Granger. The week culminates in exciting performances by camper bands and a graduation ceremony complete with a camper/family dance featuring a well-known band. THE LITTLE PAINTBRUSH: Ages 10-14. The Summer Surreal camp series allows campers to explore the world or surrealism, such as that created by Salvador Dali and Frida Khalo. Campers will lean how to create art out of their own dream images, explore subconscious thought and keep a journal of dreams to use as inspiration to create art. CHILDREN'S MUSEUM OF ACADIANA: JEWELRY CAMP (BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE): Ages 5-12. June 24-28 only. EPISCOPAL SCHOOL OF ACADIANA SUMMER CAMPS AND WORKSHOPS: Pre-K to adult. ESA offers an extensive variety of camps to keep the mind learning this summer. A few of interest are writing sessions designed to help the young scribe improve his or her craft. Younger writers explore how to use imagination and create a work to share with others while older writers will dabble in how to begin blogging. Foreign language sessions feature explorations of French and Spanish. Each language offering includes content of understanding cultural backgrounds of languages as well.
