Inspired by: Kentucky Derby

Swap your festival wares for perfectly preppy dresses and Derby inspired hats

For some time now we've been immersed in boho chic. In that Festival vibe of tribal patterns and distressed leather and too many necklaces (O, how I love the layered look). Get ready, today we're swapping gears for a more classically done springtime inspired by the big derby this weekend.

While the fashionisitas on the green at the derby will no doubt be rocking some outlandish hats, we've spotted some more wearable pieces you'll love now and later.

Over at Maven Womenswear they have some finely made hats including this one from Christy's that has a beautifully done ribbon and pale edging. The sort of hat that can go from a festival vibe all the way to the derby.

Vanessa V. has a huge selection of easy floppy hats in colors both natural and bold you can wear with maxi dresses as easily as easy shift dresses.

At Jewelie's, there is perhaps the best selection of what I'll call, for lack of a better term, big fancy hats. From floral adornments to stiff ribbons, they truly have a selection of utterly spring hats that would be beautiful with a nicely done suit or demure little dress.

Shoe La La has an assortment of enameled bracelets in spring's hues of soft pinks and cool blues and mint greens. Just what we'd pair with a sweet little white dress like the one spotted over at Hemline. And we'd put it all together with a nude heel like this one from Shoe Fits with enough sass and sex appeal to keep things from getting too sweet.

So, how do you pull off that Zoe Saldana look? One white dress in a demure cut plus a soft spring hued hat, feminine bangles and nude heel. Perfect whether you're sipping juleps and cheering on the horses or heading to a garden party.
