The Lafayette Science Museum's latest exhibit Leaving Earth - The Story of Space Travel explores the history of the international community's venture into the final frontier.
This week, the Lafayette Science Museum is holding its Leaving Earth - The Story of Space Travel exhibit, which explores the stellar history of international spaceflight, covering the heyday of rocketry to today's plans for space tourism and everything in between.
At the exhibit, guests can try their luck at trying to dock a space shuttle to the International Space Station, test their motor skills with robotic arms, and experience an authentic shuttle launch countdown. And complementing the exhibit is the museum's surreal digital planetarium.
Leaving Earth - The Story of Space Travel is now on display at the Lafayette Science Museum, located at 433 Jefferson St., in downtown Lafayette. Museum hours are Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Sunday from 1-6 p.m. For more information, call 337-291-5544 or visit their website at LafayetteScienceMuseum.org
