Shadows-on-the-Teche is holding a special two-day history workshop for children to explore what it was like to grow up in 1863.

Shadows-on-the-Teche will hold a special history workshop for children to explore what life was like for children growing up in the area in 1863. The workshop is open to boys and girls ages 7-11 years of age and includes a range of activities for children such as building and racing boats in the Shadows pond as well as baking hard tack biscuits, which were provided to Civil War soldiers. Participants can also take photographs in historic reproduction clothing, which will be sent home at the end of the workshop.

The Shadows History Workshop will be held Wednesday, June 19, to Thursday, June 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Shadows-on-the-Teche, located at 317 E. Main St., New Iberia. Admission is $50.
