Getting organized is the easy part. Staying organized is where it gets tough. Each school year offers that blank notebook and sharp pencil - a promise of keeping things in their place. But keeping stuff truly in its place takes much more than willpower. And it surely helps to have a home for all that organization.

A mudroom is just such a home for the crew at Gerilyn Roth's. The woman who helms Gerilyn Lytal Roth's Interior Design keeps it in line with a cubby for each of her three children with spots to store every last item.

THE BASICS
Hooks for backpacks, purses and sports equipment
Shelves for storing books and binders
Baskets for all the extras
Allow room for dirty shoes

A bench on one side is perfect for a pitstop before heading into the house. Find a trending fabric like this fresh print from Lola Pink to change up the look of the space with little time or effort.
