Those Star-CROSS'D Saps

The Tea Sippers theatre troupe continue their 2013-2014 theatre season with their own rendition of Shakespeare's immortal love story The Tragedy of Romeo & Juliet by throwing in more comedy and absurdity and less depression and sorrow. Urinetown: The Musical

Acting Unlimited partners with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Performing Arts Program to present Urinetown: The Musical. This comedic musical takes place in a Gotham-like city that suffers from a crippling water shortage that leads the local government to ban private toilets, which forces the city's residents to use public amenities that are controlled and taxed by a malevolent corporation.

Urinetown premieres on Friday, Aug. 16 at 7:30 p.m., at the Burke Theatre in Burke-Hawthorne Hall on the UL campus with a matinee performance on Sunday, Aug. 18 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be obtained by calling (337) 484-0172 or visiting AUIUrinetown.Eventbrite.com.

E's Kitchen Night Roundup

E's Kitchen celebrates its very first nocturnal food truck roundup featuring the top food trucks in Acadiana. This family friendly event is free and open to the public and features live music from the Rayo Brothers. She Kills Monsters

Acting Unlimited and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette present She Kills Monsters, a comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games that tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her late sister's refuge.

She Kills Monsters starts at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, at Burke Theatre in Burke-Hawthorne Hall on the UL campus. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling (337) 484-0172 or visiting auishekillsmonsters.eventbrite.com.

13th Annual Games of Acadiana

The Games of Acadiana benefit for Miles Perret Cancer Services provides a full day of family fun where participants can test their skills by climbing, singing, jumping, throwing putting, building and bouncing in more than 60 games and activities all to benefit families that fight, survive and live with cancer.

American Cancer Society Black and White Gala

The American Cancer Society Black and White Gala is a premier black-tie event in Acadiana that honors individuals for their accomplishments in the fight against cancer through the Spirit of Hope Awards. The event features live and silent auctions, live entertainment and all inclusive hors d'oeuvres and open bar.

The American Cancer Society Black and White Gala will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m., at the Victorian, located at 302 E. Main St., in Broussard. Formal attire is suggested. Tickets start at $100 for an individual and $175 for couples. For more information visit Gala.ACSEvents.org.
