Boom! Boom! Burlesque's Premiere Show

Boom! Boom! Burlesque premieres at the Feed & Seed Friday night with a variety of artists joined together for the sole purpose of creating a show packed with dancing, singing, poetry and art. The evening kicks off with a special performance from local indie rock set Rareluth.

Doors open for Boom! Boom! Burlesque at 9 p.m. at the Feed & Seed, located at 106 N. Grant St. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door. For more information, find the Boom! Boom! Burlesque's Premiere Show event page on Facebook.

Bicycle Scavenger Hunt Ocho

Lafayette's local bicycle crowd will amass at Freetown Studios this Saturday for the Eighth Annual Bicycle Scavenger Hunt this Saturday. Cyclists form teams, or go solo, and set out with the task of finding items for the scavenger hunt, photographing themselves with said items, and posting their photos to Facebook by the next day with winners being announced the following week. The three-hour hunt culminates in an after party back at Freetown Studios where a shiny new bicycle, courtesy of Capitol Cyclery of Lafayette, will be raffled off.

The Bicycle Scavenger Hunt starts at 7 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 23, at Freetown Studios, located at 421 E. Convent St., with the after party starting at 11 p.m. Entry fee for the event is $5, with all proceeds going towards local bike-friendly non-profits. Reggae Fest 2013

Acadiana welcomes the sounds, cuisine and culture of the Caribbean this weekend with the Lafayette Reggae & Cultural Festival. In addition to showcasing the region's diverse food and arts, this annual event featuring live entertainment from The Meditations, The Itals, Inner Visions, Reggae Infinity, Likkle Shank, D.R.U.M, Russel Cormier, Irie Channel and more. Other attractions include arts and crafts, food booths and a fun zone for the children.

Reggae Fest will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, to Sunday, Aug. 25, from 12 a.m., to 12 p.m., at Pelican Park, located at 110 Softball Drive in Carencro. Admission is $20 each day, $10 for students with a valid ID and free for children under the age of 10. For more information call 337-886-0572.

Ten to Sing

Local cinematographer Misty Talley presents her latest independent short film Ten to Sing, starring Amanda Newbery. The film follows Pearl, an elderly woman secluded inside her home with only her crocheting to keep her busy. When she accidentally locks herself out of her house the world around her becomes oddly different and she is forced to set out on an unintended journey.
