Acadiana 365’s Pick of the Day: ’Dinner with Friends’

This weekend, Cité des Arts hosts a performance of the Pulitzer Prize winning play Dinner with Friends.

Beginning this weekend, Cité des Arts welcomes performances of Donald Margulies' Pulitzer Prize winning play Dinner with Friends.

The play was written as a comical yet moving expression of a certain period in the playwright's own life. In the play, Karen and Gabe, who have enjoyed several years of marital bliss along with their friends Tom and Beth. But during one of their many gourmet dinner parties, Beth reveals that she getting a divorce from Tom, which throws their mutual lives into uncertainty in addition to causing Karen and Gabe to doubt the strength of their own marriage.

Performances for Dinner with Friends will be held Friday, Aug. 30, and Saturday, Aug. 31, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 1, at 2 p.m., with a special preview performance on Thursday, Aug. 29, at 7:30 p.m., at Cité des Arts, located at 109 Vine St., in downtown Lafayette. Performances will continue next weekend from Sept. 5-8 with regular performances at 7:30 p.m. and matinee performances at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door or by online at CitedesArts.org.
