Swamp Pop makes its retail debut

Locally owned sugar cane soda line on sale at Rouses.

Jean Lafitte Ginger Ale is one of four Swamp Pop flavors now available.

Swamp Pop Soda hits shelves Thursday at 22 Rouses locations - including the Bertrand Drive and Youngsville stores. The sugar cane sweetened premium soda line was founded by Collin Cormier and John Petersen who share a love of Louisiana and wanted to bottle its tastes.

The Lafayette duo believe choosing to sweeten with sugar cane produces a superior soda and by distributing in glass bottles, it gives the customer a nostalgic feel and also helps preserve the quality of the taste.

"Swamp Pop will be at four Mississippi [Rouses] locations and 18 Louisiana stores," says Cormier. And of course, it will also be available alongside lunch offerings on Cormier's food truck, Viva La Waffle.

The first four Swamp Pop flavors released are Noble Cane Cola, Satsuma Fizz, Praline Cream Soda, and Jean Lafitte Ginger Ale. Grab a cold one, pop a top and savor the fizzy flavors of Louisiana.
