Arrest in death of woman found in New Iberia home

Iberia Parish sheriff's deputies have arrested a teenager accused in the death of a woman whose body was discovered inside a home in New Iberia.

NEW IBERIA, La. (AP) - Iberia Parish sheriff's deputies have arrested a teenager accused in the death of a woman whose body was discovered inside a home in New Iberia.

The sheriff's office said the 17-year-old boy, of New Iberia, was arrested Friday on a charge of first-degree murder. He is being held in the Iberia Parish Jail. It was not immediately known if he has an attorney.

Sheriff Louis Ackal says his detectives, acting on information they received, were able to link the teenager to the alleged homicide. Further details were not released. The investigation is ongoing.

The 29-year-old victim was found in a residence Thursday afternoon and pronounced dead by the parish coroner's office. Her name has not been released.
