Retired NFL quarterback Jake Delhomme has been named to MidSouth Bank's board of directors, according to a press release issued this week.

Delhomme, 38, has served as one of the bank's advisory board member's since May 2012, and Friday's announcement makes him the 14th member of the bank's board of directors.
"Jake's association with the bank in an advisory capacity over the past year and a half has been mutually beneficial," says MidSouth Bank Board Chairman Will Charbonnet in a prepared statement included with Friday's release. "He has mentored young bankers, instilling a strong work ethic in them, and in turn been mentored by our veteran board members, which is among the many reasons the bank wanted to formalize his association with the board. We are pleased this well-respected individual has accepted this new role with our growing financial institution."
After making a name for himself as a standout quarterback for UL Lafayette, Delhomme went on to play 14 years in the NFL, starting with the New Orleans Saints in 1997. Delhomme then went to the Carolina Panthers, leading the team to Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2003, followed by stints with the Cleveland Browns in 2010 and the Houston Texans in 2011.
"Jake's skills, experiences and contributions, as well as his strong ties to the community, will play a key role in the bank's continued development and growth," adds Charbonnet.
Since his retirement from the NFL, Delhomme, along with his brother and father, has trained thoroughbred race horses, and was recently named president of the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association.
