Local FRYday - Freetown Fries 1 Year Anniversary Party
Pack & Paddle's yearly celebration of all things local comes around once again with Local FRYday with this year's event coinciding with the one year anniversary of its trusty food truck Freetown Fries. The 100 percent local event features local products, vendors, artists, food, music and best of all FREE beer. Guests are invited to shop, hula hoop and snag custom painted TOMS shoes as part of TOMS "Style Your Sole Day."
Guests are advised to show up early as the free local beer is only available while supplies last. Music will be provided by The Clay Parker Band and local vendors include Original Stiles, Metal & Lace, Hula Hoops by Jody, Green Boot Creations, Bella Arti Custom Framing & Photography, Williemaesugar, Tchoup Industries, Two Sisters & A Hammer, and more.
Local FRYday begins on Friday, Sept. 20, from 4-8 p.m., at Pack & Paddle, located at 601 E. Pinhook Road. Run Upper Lafayette
Bridge Ministry of Acadiana and Upper Lafayette Economic Development Foundation are teaming up to host the third annual Run Upper Lafayette. This benefit event features a 5K Walk-Run/One Mile Fun Run at Pelican Park with all net proceeds going to benefit Bridge Ministry of Acadiana.
Run Upper Lafayette begins at 8 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Pelican Park in Carencro. Early registration is $25 or $30 on the day of the event. For more information visit BridgeAcadiana.com.
Free Native American Culture Day
Vermilionville's annual Native American Culture Day returns this Saturday to focus on the family folklore of traditional Native Americans as well as demonstrate the daily lives of Native American tribes that inhabited Acadiana.
The day's activities include traditional Native American dances and drumming performed by various tribes, demonstrations, presentations on bousillage ovens and traditional huts as well as Bayou Vermilion archeology finds, hands on activities for children including gourd rattles and pouch making, sharing circles, films, presentations by all participating tribes as well as storytelling, canoeing and Bayou Vermilion boat tours throughout the day and more.
Native American Culture Day begins on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., at Vermillionvilel, located at 300 Fisther Road. Admission is free to the public. For more information visit Vermilionville.org.
C.G. Jung Society presents The Kiss
The C.G. Jung Society of Lafayette will hold a workshop exploring the meaning of the human kiss by examining a myriad of various myths and fairy tales. Marilyn Marshall, a Jungian Analyst from New Orleans, will share her knowledge and deep explorations of the kiss as well as kisses of fairy tales and myth having a dynamic nature being able to move psychic energy backwards to an old way of being or forward to a new attitude or adaptation to life.
The C.G. Jung Society's presentation of The Kiss, begins Sunday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m., at St.Barnabus Epicopal Church, located at 400 Camellia Blvd. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door for members, $30 in advance and $40 at the door for non-members and $10 for students and faculty with ID.
