Stone Energy gumbo cookoff Thursday at Cajun Field

by Leslie Turk

Get yourself to Cajun Field from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. for delicious gumbo and a superb cause. More than 100 gumbos, all available for a paltry all-you-can-eat price of $5, will be offered Thursday at Stone Energy's second annual gumbo cook-off to benefit United Way of Acadiana.

The cook-off is set for 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cajun Field, with music by Wayne Toups & ZyDeCajun, face painting for children and a raffle that includes a custom golf cart.

"Stone Energy is a tremendous supporter of United Way of Acadiana and a great leader in giving back to the community," Margaret Trahan, United Way of Acadiana president and CEO, said in a prepared release. "We are so grateful for the more than 100 companies and teams participating in the cook-off. This event has become a wonderful tradition that provides a fun way for people to give back and help create a better life for all in Acadiana."
