T.E.C.H.E. Project presents Shake Your Trail Feather Concert

by Wynce Nolley

The 2nd annual Shake Your Trail Feather concert will benefit the new Bayou Teche National Paddle Trail in Breaux Bridge on Saturday, Oct. 19.

The Shake Your Trail Feather Concert benefit returns to Breaux Bridge for a second year to raise money for the new 130 mile-long Bayou Teche National Paddle Trail.  This year's concert features live music from Makers Reel, Bonsour Catin and Corey Ledet and His Zydeco Band. In addition to the main stage, there will also be a Heritage Stage featuring the St. Bernard School students performing an acoustic set along with other local musicians.

This year's event also features a Louisiana Folk Roots Tent for cultural interviews along with free kayak lessons from 1-3 p.m., provided by Bayou Teche Experience. And to complement the kayak lessons, there will be a kayak raffle starting at 4 p.m., with tickets at $2 per person. The Lafayette Paddle Club will also be paddling to the event from Arnaudville in addition to Bayou Teche Experience offering shuttles and kayak rental for a brief hour and a half paddle from Poche Bridge.

Representatives from the Municipal Planning Organization will also be on hand to unveil plans for the multi-use trailhead to be constructed at Parc des Ponts and the three-parish-wide Atakapas-Ishak multi-purpose trail.

The 2nd Annual Shake Your Trail Feather will held on Saturday, Oct. 19, from noon to 6 p.m., at Parc des Ponts de Pont Breaux in Breaux Bridge. Admission to Shake Your Trail Feather is free, but donations are welcome, and attendees may purchase a festival pin to further support the event.
