For October, the Cane Fire Film Series is screening the feature documentary Good Ol' Freda about the Beatles' devoted secretary and long-time friend Freda Kelly.
Freda was just a quiet teenager from Liverpool when she was asked to work for a local band hoping to make it big. Though she had no concept of how far they would go, Freda saw something in them that inspired her to stand by them on their fated road to success. And while many people came in and out of the band's circle as it grew to international stardom, Freda remained a staple because of her unwavering loyalty and dedication.
In Good Ol' Freda, the Beatles' trusty assistant tells her stories for the first time in 50 years in one of few films made with the support of the living Beatles featuring original Beatles music. The Cane Fire Film Series screens Good Ol' Freda on Monday, Oct. 14, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Acadiana Center for the Arts, located at 101 W. Vermilion St., in downtown Lafayette.
