Breast cancer survivors hit the runway

Tonight 50 local women will hit the stage for a runway show focused on a celebration of more than clothing. During the 20th annual Breast Health Symposium, 50 models that are breast cancer survivors will strut their stuff.

The ladies of Spa Mizan are providing all the styling they need with hair, makeup, manicures and stress relief. The event itself aims to educate and inspire. Something that's sure to happen with speaker Joan Cronan - once athletic director for women at the University of Tennessee. Her presentation - "Climb Every Mountain - is part of the year's theme - High on Life.

Local medical experts on breast cancer will be on hand at the event at the Cajundome Convention Center and area organizations will have a bevy of info on all things breast health. It's the 20th year for the event hosted by The Institute for Breast Health Inc. and this year the institute will award a nursing scholarship to a UL nursing student. Blue Rolfes will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies and admission is only $10. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the event is from 6 to 8 p.m. For more information go to werockpink.org.
