See this string quartet weave its signature blend contemporary, urban, and Latino sound tonight at the AcA.
The string quartet known as Sweet Plantain has a knack for bridging the gap between musical generations by giving a voice to a contemporary, urban, Latino sound therefore much of the group's repertoire is rooted in improvisation.
Artfully fusing the western classical traditions in which they were trained with the hip-hop, jazz improv, and Latin rhythms on which they were raised, their original writing and live shows educate and entertain. Separately hailing from the Bronx, New Jersey and Venezuela, together these musicians give voice to a sound that is contemporary, multicultural and very New York.
The AcA's PASA Main Stage Series presents Sweet Plantain on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m., at the Heymann Performing Arts Center, located at 1373 S College Road. For ticket information visit Ticketmaster.com.
