On the heels of The Advocate announcing it had hired longtime lifestyle writer Patricia Gannon to cover the Acadiana social scene, The Advertiser announced it was pegging Kris Wartelle to cover the Acadiana social scene. Wartelle, a former TV news anchor and communications director for former state Attorney General Charles Foti, has been at The Advertiser for several years doing, well, stuff.

The Advocate, meanwhile, is beefing up its presence in the Lafayette market as its new owner, New Orleans business tycoon John Georges, looks to steal some market share from The Advertiser as well as the Times-Picayune in his hometown.
