Archive Aid 10

This year's Archive Aid fundraiser takes place tonight at the Blue Moon Saloon. This year's featured performers include the Rex Street Rounders, the Revelers and Bonsoir, Catin. There will also be a few special guests appearing on stage throughout the evening. Archivist Chris Segura and Intern Adam Doucet are preparing a complimentary meal for supporters and hosting a jam session under the pavilion. This year's funding goal is $5,000 to defray costs of a student worker and work station equipment upgrades.

Archive Aid 10 begins at 7:30 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 15, at the Blue Moon Saloon, located at 215 E. Convent St. Admission is $10. For more information, visit BlueMoonPresents.com.

UL Jazz Ensemble with Dr. William Hochkeppel

The UL Jazz ensemble returns for a third season to the AcA, featuring 22 of its brightest local jazz musicians in an evening of Big Band classics and new original materials. AcA member tickets are $23 and $13 with public tickets for $25 and $15. Students get in for free with valid ID.

Sesame Street Live: Can't Stop Singing

When Elmo casts a spell with Abby Cadabbys magic wand, theres something in the air - and Sesame Street becomes a non stop, all-singing, all-dancing musical montage. Grover and Baby Bear sing their highs and lows, Cookie Monster sings fast and slow, Bert and Ernie converse in song and Murray makes mouth music for all to sing along. Learn why it feels good to sing a song, but why it feels good to stop, too. What will Elmo learn about the power of musical magic? Join the conga line of fun to find out.

Jeunesse Fest 2013

In a town of great musicians and world renowned musical festivals, the 4 Jeunesse Group along with the The Feed & Seed and Tipintina's Music Co-Op Lafayette bring you Jeunesse Fest 2013 (pronounced jen ess / French for Youth) on Nov. 16 at the Feed & Seed. Jeunesse Fest 2013 is the only pay what you want, all ages, all cutting edge genres of the next star musicians of South Louisiana. Joining these rising stars of music will be a food truck round up, local artists andthe latest in green vendors. The festival is a one day festival starting at noon and jamming out till midnight catering not only to young fans but truly all people who love music, good food and good drink.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

Hearts of Hope is hosting its 7th annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser on Nov. 16, in Girard Park beginning at 10 a.m. (registration at 9 a.m.). Tickets are $25 for walkers, $10 for foodies, and free for children under 12. Tickets include afternoon festivities, chicken and sausage jambalaya, carnival activities, and cold beverages. Men from all walks of life will be protesting against sexual assault by walking a mile in high heel shoes. Women and children are also encouraged to walk, wearing tennis shoes. Proceeds will benefit Hearts of Hope--Childrens Advocacy Center, Sexual Abuse Response Center and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners.
