Horsing around at Pack & Paddle

by Kari Walker

Pint Night expected to draw crowd for Friends of the Horse Farm benefit

As Lafayette Central Park, Inc. continues with community forums on planning the development of the Horse Farm, the folks at Pack & Paddle are breaking out the beer taps and raising glasses and money for the Friends of the Horse Farm.

The outdoor gear shop located at 601 E. Pinhook Road will host Pint Night on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. as a way to bring the community together for an evening of fun, food, music and art all with the purpose of helping the Friends of the Horse Farm continue with its mission to promote the preservation and restoration of natural and sustainable green space in Acadiana with full public access, through public engagement, collaboration and education.

A $10 donation at the door gets you Abita beer compliments of The Greenroom and live music from Louis Michot and Friends. The first 200 attendees will receive a commemorative pint glass - but if you are one of the first lucky 100 to arrive, you also get an little lagniappe from Pack & Paddle. While you sip your brew and visit with friends, Freetown Fries will be on hand for snacking as well.

Additional fundraising will take place during the evening with a silent auction of small art pieces from 30 local artists - all of the art auction proceeds go straight to the Friends of the Horse Farm.
