Cajuns squeak by Coastal Carolina to win tourney

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) - Xavian Rimmer scored 21 points as UL Lafayette beat Coastal Carolina 73-69 in the title game of the EA Sports Maui on the Mainland Classic on Sunday.

Rimmer was 6-of-9 shooting from behind the arc and also grabbed seven rebounds for the Ragin'Cajuns (4-2). Shawn Long added 18 points, 16 of which came in the second half, and Louisiana made 51 percent of its shots, including 12 of 26 from 3-point range. But Louisiana-Lafayette turned the ball over 23 times and trailed 45-36 in the rebounding department.

Elfrid Payton added 13 points, eight rebounds and nine rebounds - nearly missing a triple-double.

Coastal Carolina (2-4) couldn't take advantage of its 21 offensive rebounds, shooting just 36.2 percent from the field. Elijah Wilson led the Chanticleers with 22 points and Warren Gillis added 14. Michel Enanga finished with just seven points, but hauled in 13 rebounds.

Coastal Carolina missed three free throws in the final minute.
