Cajun New Year's Storytelling

The Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market at the Horse Farm will host a story telling of the Cajun New Year's Eve tale of "SanTaa Kroupee." Louisiana author Brenda Juneau, who wrote a children's book based on the traditional bayou legend of a New Year's Eve visitor, will read the tale of SanTaa Kroupee aloud at 8:30 a.m. and again at 11 a.m. under the oak trees at the Horse Farm.

For generations Cajun families have celebrated the French tradition of a visit from SanTaa Kroupee on New Year's Eve. The rich, regional story is one to be enjoyed by all ages in anticipation of the New Year. Visitors, locals, and families are invited to gather for the book reading and be filled with the continued magic of SanTaa Kroupee.

Cajun New Year's Storytelling begins at 8:30 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Horse Farm, located at 2913 Johnston St. For more information visit MarketAtTheHorseFarm.com

EarthShare Gardens Final Workday & Property Clean-Up

EarthShare Gardens is leaving the Holy Rosary Institute and the time has come to say goodbye to the gardens everyone has grown and tended for so many years. Starting Jan. 1, 2014 the gardens will be closed. However, EarthShare Gardens is a strong organization and they intend to continue our work in a different place and with a renewed vigor and vision. Lend us your support to achieve their goal to get all the equipment, tools, supplies and buildings off the land by the end of the year.

EarthShare Gardens also needs volunteers and donations. Lend a hand in dismantling the garden and cleaning up the property. Come when you can and stay as long as you can. But don't forget to bring your gloves and water.

The EarthShare Gardens Final Workday and Property Clean-Up begins on Saturday, Dec. 28, from 8 a.m. until completion at EarthShare Gardens, located at 1508 Louisiana Ave. For more information, visit EarthSharegardens.org.
