New Year, New Style

2014 Forecast

It appears 2014 will be another year of fearless style with looks that are partly eclectic and clearly diverse. We're likely to see a scattering of radiant orchid after Pantone tapped it as the color of the year. But there will be other shades that emerge in earnest per experts like Maven's maven Christina Barbier, who points to vibrant blue-green hues.

"All shades of teal and jade," Barbier says.

Vanessa Vicari of Vanessa V. was busy ordering up a hearty selection of toppers she describes as "fiesta" for spring. The vibe has a south of border feel with details like embroidered florals and vibrant hues. She plans to pair the dresses with wedges, the crisp colors with white denim and the little tops with cutoffs.

While the laid-back vibe of the fiesta emerges, there remains a decidedly structured and ladylike infusion from bags to skinny skirts. Kiki Frayard of kiki points toward a slew of designers doing the traditional satchel - variations in color from rich cognac to the soft creamy Marc Jacobs with subtle reptile trim.
