Local takes national mag cover

Kiki in JCK Magazine

When the folks at JCK Magazine (a national jewelry trade magazine) made a trip to Stuller last fall they found a gem we've known about for years in Acadiana - kiki (and Kiki).

They were quickly impressed by the kiki touch - a high end aesthetic and mix of brands from glittering Erica Courtney and refined Palmetto to eclectic Temple St. Clair. Kiki Frayard was interviewed and she and daughter Katie Culbert were photographed later.

"Then I get a call from a friend that I'm on the cover," Kiki says.

In lieu of the standard model cover, JCK put Kiki on the cover and editor Victoria Gomelsky notes in her editor's letter of this issue that when she made the trip to kiki she coveted "all the jewelry in their cases, tested out my new favorite scent (from Bond No. 9), and bought a cardigan, a dress, and a pair of patterned trousers " A stout compliment from an industry guru.

The article notes the facts we've long known around here - the way Kiki and Katie have uniquely branded their, well, brand and the mix of quirk and high end that blends seamlessly from the kids' corner of crazy toys to Alexis Bittar pieces. This IND Styler's favorite bit of the article would be the top jewelry styles the mother and daughter duo predict for 2014 - colored gemstones (especially opals and moonstones), layering pieces that are perfect for every day and mixed metals.
