In anticipation of another round of wintery weather, the Lafayette Parish School System has announced an emergency closure for Tuesday and Wednesday.

In anticipation of another round of wintery weather, the Lafayette Parish School System has announced an emergency closure for Tuesday and Wednesday.

In a press release issued Monday morning, school officials credit the two-day closure to weather forecasts predicting freezing temperatures and icy precipitation.

"Hazardous driving conditions on roads, especially bridges and overpasses, are expected all of Tuesday and into part of Wednesday due to a combination of ice and snow," the release states.

The closure will include all LPSS schools and administrative offices, as well as cancellations of all extracurricular events scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.
