Around Town: Jared jewelry store coming to Lafayette

by Leslie Turk

Vacant Burger King building razed for new jewelry store.

Ohio-based national jeweler Jared is expanding to the Lafayette market, opening a freestanding store at 3601 Ambassador Caffery Parkway, across from the Acadiana Mall. The location, which was razed this week, most recently housed a Burger King.

City permitting records indicate the store will be about 6,100 square feet.

The first Jared opened in 1993. None of its stores are located inside of traditional malls.

Jared is a division of Sterling Jewelers Inc., headquartered in Akron, Ohio. Together with Signet Jewelers, its parent company, it is the largest specialty retail jeweler in the world.
