Wanderlust Theatre presents Eurydice

In an imaginative retelling of the Greek myth, on the day that Eurydice is to marry her true love Orpheus, a misstep sends her to the surreal depths of the Underworld, where she has a surprising reunion and ultimately must decide her own fate. Sarah Ruhl explores love, loss and the pleasures and pains of memory in a work that the New York Times describes as "rhapsodically beautiful, a magical play with gripping emotional potency...a love letter to the world."

Wanderlust Theatre presents Eurydice with performances on Friday, Feb. 7, and Saturday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m., at Acadiana Center for the Arts, located at 101 W. Vermilion St. Admission is $15, or $12 for AcA members. For more information visit AcadianaCenterfortheArts.org.

The Teasippers present Visiting Mr. Green

Gris-Gris Productions in a co-production with The Teasippers Theater Group presents their first major play for 2014, Visiting Mr. Green. Mr. Green, an elderly, retired dry cleaner, wanders into New York traffic and is almost hit by a car driven by Ross Gardiner, a 29-year-old corporate executive. The young man is given a community service of helping the recent widower once a week for six months. What starts as a comedy about two men who do not want to be in the same room together becomes a gripping and moving drama as they get to know each other, come to care about each other, and open old wounds they've been hiding and nursing for years.

Performances for Visiting Mr. Green are Feb. 7-8 & 14-15 at 7:30 p.m., at Cite des Arts, located at 109 Vine St. Tickets are $12, or $10 for students and seniors, and can be purchased at CitedesArts.org or by calling 337-291-1122.
