We know how to party

by Amanda Bedgood

Krewe de Wideload delivers the shindig

The folks over at Krewe de Wideload don't take themselves too seriously (cut to the queen busting a move and showing off her Mardi Gras-colored tennis shoes mid-walk). What they do take seriously? A party. And they delivered during their ball at the Cajundome Convention Center. From Dorothy looking for Oz to Weekend at Bernie's, the movie-theme fete was filled with a lot of light-hearted fun and glittering costumes. The krewe is a new one with Carencro roots and a growing following going quickly from the hall of Magnolia Court to soaring ticket sales at the Cajundome Convention Center.

The dancers were the highlight of the evening starting with a Footloose performance and perfectly peach gown on Amy Breaux that left one participant limping (no, really, they had to carry the poor guy off the stage). The fellas from Weekend at Bernie's showed us how to rock the stage in shorts and vacay shirts (and a few sequins on a Members Only jacket). A Dirty Dancing duo seriously delivered in a perfectly choreographed routine that would make Baby jealous. But, it was sweet Daisy Duke that stole our hearts. Cut off shorts covered in sequins? Welcome to Mardi Gras.
