Marshall Tucker highlights spring DTA! series

by Walter Pierce

DTA! is also offering up-and-coming Acadiana bands a chance to show off their stuff and compete for possible future bookings with the DTA Battle of the Bands.

The Marshall Tucker Band

Southern rockers The Marshall Tucker Band will punctuate a diverse spring Downtown Alive! concert series that begins Friday, March 21 when singer-songwriter Johanna Divine is joined on stage by the UL Big Band for a rousing evening of jazz and jazz-inspired blues. Other highlights of the Friday concert series include Grammy winner Chubby Carrier, New Orleans rockers Cowboy Mouth and Acadiana country crooner Jared Lane.

DTA! is also offering up-and-coming Acadiana bands a chance to show off their stuff and compete for possible future bookings with the DTA Battle of the Bands. Winners of the contest, which involves posting three videos of live performances to DTA's Facebook fan page by March 7, will get the opportunity to perform 15-minute opening sets for this spring's DTA headliners.

Concession sales for the bi-annual concert series begin at 5:30 p.m.; the music runs from 6-8:30 p.m. DTA is a free concert series supported by concession sales. Please leave ice chests (and pets) at home.
