Party Girl

Party Girl

by Jill Norman LeBlanc

Party Girl's been having some busy weekends, y'all, and Nov. 10-12 required all of my party skills! I was off to Baton Rouge Friday night for the debut of Louisiana Crossroads at the Manship Theatre, but first I had to check out PASA's Wine Auction at The Townhouse. Saturday was ArtWalk and KRVS' Listener Appreciation party at Blue Moon, and as for Sunday, I had to brunch in Arnaudville with artist George Marks to celebrate the opening of his Town Market. I'll have a full report for y'all soon! And I'm already marking Christmas parties on my calendar and expect to be very busy through the New Year!

Speaking of busy, Foster Marketing celebrated 25 years of achievement with a party last month. Grand Contemporary Art Gallery was the setting for the silver celebration, with friends, clients and the Foster "family," including Denise Foster Whited, George Foster, Dena Foster, Bonnie Foster and Luke Whited. What happens when that many Fosters get together? A party of course!

Also getting together to welcome a family member to town from California were Alida Anthony and friends, in honor of nephew Patrick Fitzgerald's visit to Lafayette. Patrick invented AmberWatch, the newest, cool safety watch on the market, and friends stopped by to congratulate him. Patrick Wilder also came in from California, Mary Glass traveled from Mississippi, and local Ashleigh Anthony, Alida's daughter, stopped in as well. Not just for kids, the watch is perfect for women joggers and seniors and is available exclusively at C'est Toi and Wal-Mart, and Toys R Us will also be carrying it soon. Ex-Green Bay Packers football player Patrick is a dead ringer for Arnold Schwarzenegger, y'all! Of course, the buff bod and tan help.

The Acadiana Restaurant Association also had some partying to do at Doe's Eat Place in honor of its Restaurateur of the Year for 2004. Drumroll, please! The award went to Nash Barreca Jr. of Nash's in Broussard. If y'all have ever eaten at Nash's, you know he deserves it! Not only does Nash's have some wonderful food (try the Creole-style seafood gumbo), but the atmosphere makes you want to sit at a window table all afternoon. Other honors went to Frank Elder of the Steamboat Warehouse in Washington as Restaurateur Partner of the Year, Leonard Louvierre of Zea as Active Member of the Year, Dr. Linda Vincent Broussard for Distinguished Service and John O'Reilly of Glazer's as Associate Member of the Year. And Don's Seafood Hut was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Congratulations! Party Girl appreciates all the good meals.
