Spring is in the air, and as the flowers bloom, so do Acadiana's ladies as they transition into their warm-weather wardrobes. The fashions were in high style at March 23's Viva la Cure! event at the City Club. Entertainers Cher, Elvis and the Apollo and Xanadu dancers shined, while honorees Paulette Blanchet, Troy Hebert and Jace Trahan arrived elegant as ever. If local impersonators weren't their forté, guests had plenty of "winning" options in the blackjack room, laid out to perfection by Elisabeth Arnold. The blackjack table featured "star" dealers P.J. Naomi and Teddy Beaullieu, and Texas Hold 'Em wasn't far behind in popularity. While the proceeds raised for the American Cancer Society were the highlight of the second-annual event, Sarah James and Coury Moss had something else to celebrate. The two were engaged at Girard Park earlier in the day, and Sarah's sparkling diamond was the perfect accessory to her zebra-print halter dress.
Also celebrating spring in style were the ladies of the Lafayette Parish Bar Auxiliary at their recent Taste Treat luncheon. Held on the lawn of Mark and Patti Ackal, Taste Treat provided guests with a special "taste" of the ladies' new cookbook. Members of the auxiliary were asked to bring the dish they contributed to the cookbook, and with their ticket, guests also received a copy. The spread ranged from cheddar olive mini muffins and artichoke dip to chocolate cream pie and tiramisu. The auxiliary, made up mostly of attorney's wives and female attorneys, holds charitable events throughout the year, and Taste Treat benefited Faith House, in addition to guests' palates.
