Y'ville biz owners pleads to polluting river

Robbie Mouton admitted to dumping the pollutant into the waterway during a two-week period in January of 2009.

A Youngsville business owner faces a year in prison and up to $100,000 in fines after pleading guilty in federal court in Lafayette to discharging a mixture of crude oil and water into the Vermilion River.

According to U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley, 56-year-old Robbie Mouton admitted to dumping the pollutant into the waterway during a two-week period in January of 2009. Mouton is the owner of Robbie's Gauging Service. The U.S. Environmental Protection Service, along with the state Department of Environmental Quality and State Police investigated the matter.

No sentencing date for Mouton has been set.
