This package of Legal Matters columns and stories returns this month to launch another year of ABiz's ongoing coverage of issues important to Lafayette's legal community. Through a partnership with the Lafayette Bar Association, Legal Matters appears every other month in ABiz, with contributions from lawyers throughout the Acadiana community, ABiz staffers, freelance writers and other news sources. The next installment will publish April 17, and in alternating months thereafter.
This year we invited new LBA President Tricia Pierre to give an overview of the organization's work and goals, and also asked for updates on last year's columns by Clerk of Court Louis Perret and attorney Kevin Blanchard (who in November was tapped by City-Parish President Joey Durel to be Lafayette Consolidated Government's first chief development officer). We also have a contribution from attorney Ian Macdonald, who heads the Lafayette office of Jones Walker.
