Dish of the day: Taco Sisters fish tacos

by Kari Walker

Smoked tuna and veggies rolled in a tortilla for a Lenten lunch

It's another Lenten Friday, and for those looking to escape the bloat of a fried seafood platter or poboy, take a trip down Johnston Street to the corner of Vermilion and swing into Taco Sisters for a fresh and tasty fish taco.

The cooks inside the brightly colored eatery start with a house-smoked tuna shredded and filled inside a tortilla and top it with their lettuce made fresh every day from spring greens, crisp apples, chopped celery, carrots, and green onions. Finish the taco with pico de gallo and add toppings as you like - cheese, black beans and sour cream are a few options.

You can also go low-carb and turn your fish dish into a salad. Add a side of chips and smoked tomato salsa to complete the meal.
