Former La. govs show unity on issues

Former Govs. Edwin Edwards, Buddy Roemer and Kathleen Blanco demonstrated a surprising level of agreement on a wide range of issues during a lecture Wednesday night at Loyola University.

Former Govs. Edwin Edwards, Buddy Roemer and Kathleen Blanco demonstrated a surprising level of agreement on a wide range of issues during a lecture Wednesday night at Loyola University.

The event, "One Louisiana, Three Perspectives," The New Orleans Advocate reports, didn't exactly live up to its name as the two Democrats and Republican found common ground on many of the contentious issues put forth by moderator and television news anchor Lee Zurik:

? On the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority - East's lawsuit against 97 oil and gas companies, all three former governors were in support with Roemer, the lone Republican, saying, "I'm with them."

? The former leaders also expressed support for Louisiana public schools adopting Common Core, the controversial new education standards.
