Aswell: that's one busy lawyer!
APR 3 Blogger Tom Aswell digs up some interesting info on a Baton Rouge attorney who represents two state boards and is suing two other state boards and a state agency. According to Aswell's research, there's no problem with a lawyer litigating both for and against the state.

APR 3 Columnist Clancy DuBos writes about Big Oil's "big lie" in this post on Gambit. Every time someone tries to get the oil corporations to pay their fair share of anything, or follow any rules at all, their cheerleaders trot out the "they'll leave us!" lie, Clancy writes. It's "preposterous," he opines, and currently is compounded by attempts to conceal the plan of our governor to sue the US Army Corps of Engineers.

WaPo: Jindal faces hurdles to become contender
APR 3 Bobby Jindal hoped for a big splash with his "so what, look at me" health plan press conference Wednesday, but the Washington Post politics blog says he'll have to come up with more to be a serious contender in 2016. So far, he hasn't been able to build any enthusiasm among the GOP voters, and apparently there's a very "intense" tug of war going on behind the scenes for the most powerful backers, the blog tells us.

APR 3 Blogger Ian McGibboney puts in his two cents on the recent controversy involving Stephen Colbert, Twitter, and an individual who (apparently) does not understand satire but has a firm grip on social media marketing. Big Surprise: Aguillard says he won't quit LC
APR 3 In a development that surprised no one, sources say embattled Louisiana College President Joe Aguillard has no plans to quit, the Town Talk reports here. If even half of what is said about Aguillard's ego is correct, there's no way this guy is going to resign, but things may develop further when the private Baptist college's board meets later this month.

Crawfish on CC: a workshop ain't gonna fix that
APR 3 Education blogger Crazy Crawfish writes about Common Core in this post, comparing it to a house of sand built in a swamp. The folks out there saying it just needs a few tweaks aren't being realistic, he writes, because it can't be fixed with a couple of bucks and a few workshops. However, the biggest problem is that the concept was delivered by the same "reformers" who have been dishonest with us about other silver bullets, he says.

Nodef breaks down 'Jindalcare'
APR 3 No time to read Bobby's report on his plan to save us all from health insurance? The NOLA Defender blog breaks it down for you in this post. Is it aimed at helping the unwashed masses? Nah, the blog tells us it is "viewed by many as a move to distinguish himself early from other hopefuls for the Republic presidential nomination."

Dreher on the Mozilla same-sex controversy
APR 3 You had to know blogger Rod Dreher was going to weigh in on this one. Here's his commentary on the recent statement by OKCupid, an online dating service open to LGBT folks, taking aim at the new head of Mozilla, who supported the California law that sought to ban same-sex marriage. His take? Let's make sure we don't focus on one issue to the exclusion of others.
