Party Girl

Judging from the flurry of amour recently, Lafayette's the place for love. An engagement party was held Dec. 23 at Gerald Breaux's home for his daughter, Claire, and her fiancé, Todd Lewis. Both local and visiting guests enjoyed Gerald's chili and gumbo prepared by Claire's stepdad, Jack Turner, along with meat pies, crawfish pies and the groom's favorite ' boudin. A continuation of the Breauxs' annual Christmas party, the event was more festive because of the upcoming nuptials on Sept. 29, 2007. Claire and Todd both reside in Santa Monica but will marry in Lafayette, Claire's hometown. Guests included Claire's siblings, Stephen Breaux of Leesville, Kate Heinen, Patrick Turner and Jacob Turner of Marietta, Ga., and friends from Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Mandeville and New York.

What do women not want? Well, women don't like surprises â?¦ unless the man she loves surprises her with a party in her honor. Rosie Adams was a lucky birthday girl; her husband Dr. Jim Adams made secret arrangements while Rosie was away for the weekend with her gal pal Alida Anthony of C'est Toi. When Rosie returned home Sunday, Dec. 3, she walked into a fabulous evening full of friends and many laughs. The guests not only enjoyed the finest food but also were entertained by the band, First Class. I have to say, first-class all the way, Dr. Adams, and happy birthday, Rosie!

Two more lovebirds put the petals to the metal on Oct. 6, 2006. Lindsey Kees and Michael Dimiterchik Jr. exchanged vows at Saint John's Cathedral Church with a reception at The City Club at River Ranch following the ceremony. The bridal party rode aboard the Good Times Trolley to the ceremony and reception. At the reception, the newlywed couple's first dance was Etta James' "At Last." The party kicked into full swing at the reception when hits like "Y.M.C.A." were played, complete with Village People hats for guests. The evening ended with a rose petal toss as the couple retired to their limousine. They honeymooned at Walt Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort (just in time for the World Food and Wine Festival). Now Lindsey and Michael Dimiterchik can relax and enjoy married bliss!
