MoveOn.org prevails in billboard fight

A liberal group that used a state tourism slogan to hit Gov. Bobby Jindal over the governor's refusal to expand Medicaid in Louisiana can continue to use the state's tourism slogan - "pick your passion" - on a billboard in Baton Rouge.

A liberal group that used a state tourism slogan to hit Gov. Bobby Jindal over the governor's refusal to expand Medicaid in Louisiana can continue to use the state's tourism slogan - "pick your passion" - on a billboard in Baton Rouge.

The Advocate is reporting that federal Judge  Shelly Dick ruled in favor of MoveOn.org, which was the target of a lawsuit filed by Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne accusing the group of trademark infringement. But, as The Advocate reports, Dick ruled that it's reasonable to conclude that motorists who see the billboard would not be fooled into thinking Dardenne or his office were attacking Jindal over Medicaid expansion. In other words, MoveOn.org is appropriately using parody to skewer the governor.
