More than a meal

Two upcoming dinner series events that will inspire people who love to eat

Swamp Pop soda fans should mark their calendars for Thursday, April 17 and call Café Vermilionville. The second dinner inspired by the sugar cane soda line will take place with a menu filled of courses designed by Café V chef Pat Waters.

A few menu items that caught the eye of IND Eats are the Noble Cane cola braised beef short rib and the Satsuma Fizz and sweet chili Vietnamese pork belly with fried rice.

Each course will also be served with a cocktail pairing with tastes of Swamp Pop. The dinner is $75 per person and reservations can be made by calling 237-0100.

The exciting Runaway Dish dinner series is giving back to Festival International through its spinoff event titled Runaway Feast to be held in Downtown Lafayette on Tuesday, April 22 at 6 p.m.

Runaway Feast differs from it's sibling Runaway Dish in the sense that this dinner is considered a laid-back BBQ type dinner where diners will feast on a whole hog and sides prepared by a multitude of local chefs coming together for the common cause of making great food for people who love to eat - they are cooking for the people of Lafayette and helping our beloved Festival at the same time.

Tickets are limited and available for purchase online for $35 per person and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Festival International.

Both of these dinner events are great ways to experience what local chefs are doing beyond their daily menus and the ever-growing food movement in Acadiana.
