Party Girl

Party Girl

Can you believe it? After all these years Party Girl finally had her first Tinsel and Treasures experience. Right from the start I knew that this was going to be a very special shopping experience. Walking through the front doors of the Cajundome Convention Center I found myself immediately immersed in an illustrious shopaholic's dream world. Everywhere I looked tables were stocked with treasures, and trees were garnished with extravagance as well as tinsel.

Party Girl loves the V.I.P. treatment, and so I knew that the red carpet had been rolled out just for me. (Well, perhaps my ego is making me a bit delusional.) I just attended the special sneak preview on Sept. 19 and returned twice more to take care of much of my Christmas shopping. This was the 14th annual Tinsel and Treasures, hosted by the Junior League of Lafayette, and the event drew more than 130 merchants from across the country into the Convention Center. Everything from jewelry to food, gifts, toys, home décor and apparel was presented in a fun-filled and festive atmosphere.

Junior League of Lafayette President Sarah Berthelot and the league's wonderful shoppers enjoyed themselves while supporting the community and kicking off the traditional holiday shopping season. It was amazing to see the Convention Center transformed into a winter wonderland, with Christmas trees glimmering, the red carpet dusted with shiny snowflakes and a welcoming lounge area to rest one's weary feet. Party Girl got to sit on Santa's lap and put in a bid for that 5-carat sapphire ring I've had my eyes on for so long. And my girlfriends will be very surprised about some of the presents I have for them this Christmas!
