APR 11 This post on Raw Story's Panic in Funland blog gives us a Sam Spade-style fictionalization of the McAllister mess and a (fictional, of course) conversation between said Congressman and a certain Senator who showed up in the pages of a prostitute's little black book. TBogg really outdid himself this time.

IT'S NOT JUST US: POLITICO LOVES HIM TOO
APR 11 Politico profiles Edwin W. Edwards in this post, describing him as a "scoundrel, irresistible charmer, four-time governor, reality show star, convicted felon and the very last of the line of New Deal Southern Democrats." One interesting comment came from Buddy Roemer, who says while unlikely, "he can win."

DRINKING AND POLITICAL SCANDAL: IT'S OUR BRAND
APR 11 Hey, when the Washington Post can create an entire alphabet of your crooks, you know you've achieved some kind of greatness, Louisiana. This post on The Fix blog lists our most corrupt politicians from A to Z (and look out Bobby, you there under J!!). Even though there isn't one for every letter, it's not short -- because some have multiple entries. For instance, there are plenty under "L."

LOUISIANA TEACHERS' TIES TO COMMON CORE
APR 11 Here's a post on Mercedes Schneider's education blog, deutsch29, about the (alleged) role of several Louisiana people with teaching certificates in the development of Common Core. IAN ON PAYING STUDENT ATHLETES
APR 11 Here's blogger Ian McGibboney's position on the ongoing discussion about paying college athletes. His take? It's time to start paying them. The system as it is now just encourages corruption, he says, and it's not fair to students. We shouldn't be paying them like pro sports, but there's nothing wrong with kids getting a wage to help them pay bills or eat, Ian argues.

ASWELL: LET'S SEE A MCALLISTER-VITTER GUBERNATORIAL RACE
APR 11 Blogger Tom Aswell is waxing poetic here on the Vance McAllister case, letting us know some of the dirty details, and also fantasizing a scenario that would result in McAllister running for governor against David Vitter, creating a "Ducky Dynasty Dilemma." The cuckolded Peacock would run for Congress, and Elbert Guillory would entertain us all with chicken boxing matches, Aswell writes.

DREHER ON GAY KIDS GETTING BULLIED
APR 11 Blogger Rod Dreher writes about homosexuality here, a frequent topic of his writings. In this post, he's challenging the idea that gay folk can only be the victim in a bullying relationship. That's not true, he says, remembering a gay bully at his school, and a gay former housemate who cheated him.

NOW WHAT IS THAT SHERIFF GOING TO DO?
APR 11 Looks like Louisiana's unconstitutional sodomy law is going down, NOLA Defender reports here. These laws have been illegal since the U.S. Supreme Court struck them down in a 2003 case that was a landmark for sexual privacy, NoDef reports.
