A state education official was arrested on a range of charges Friday after allegedly breaking into a home and brandishing a knife.

Stephanie Funderburk is a regional coordinator for the state Department of Education, KATC TV3 reports here.

The 62-year-old Funderburk, who lives in Abbeville, allegedly got in a heated argument Friday with an unidentified man while driving down Johnston Street. The argument, according to a report issued by the Lafayette Police Department, turned violent, with Funderburk allegedly injuring the man's arm.

Later that day, Funderburk is alleged to have arrived at the man's home where she broke in through a side door and grabbed a knife while she searched the house. Though she didn't find the person she is said to have been looking for, Funderburk did manage to cause about $5,000 worth of damage inside the home, according to Lafayette PD.

Funderburk was arrested on charges of aggravated burglary, simple battery and simple criminal damage to property. She was booked into the Lafayette Parish jail, but has since been released after posting a $20,000 bail.
