While we partake in all the parties happening in Lafayette, we have to remember that our four-legged friends like to have fun too. Pet boutiques are popping up all over town, so we're not the only ones going out fashionably dressed anymore! Posh Paws' recent grand opening at 5520 Johnston St. celebrated our pampered pooches, and furry guests received tons of gourmet treats, made especially for Posh Paws by Pink Poodle Gourmet. Some pets even came in costume; chihuahua Lexie was disguised as a pink bunny, and pug Cookie was wearing a purple and gold LSU sweater.
Everyone knows the most important meal of the day is breakfast, and Van Eaton & Romero staff and agents started the day on the right foot recently with an appreciation breakfast hosted by IberiaBank's mortgage loan department. à la carte's spread hit the spot, while James Montelero thanked the Van Eaton crowd for the long hours they've put in lately to accommodate Lafayette's influx of people from New Orleans and surrounding areas. Hardworking staff included Dee Daigle, Judy Guidry, Nell Johnson, Jennifer Lee, Dewitt David and Pat Brenham.
The Acadiana Symphony Orchestra had something to celebrate during its Overture in Black and White party at the home of Jeanie and Pete Rush. The fête celebrated ASO's Artchestra fundraising project, which features painted violins by local artists. The elegant Rush home was the perfect setting for the black-tie event, and the project, which has been done in other cities like New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, lasts through the spring when the violins will be auctioned off.
And the Lafayette Parish Bar Association kicked off the official opening of court with its annual Red Mass. Local attorneys and members of the association celebrated at St. John Cathedral, and the day's activities also included a luncheon at the City Club at River Ranch and ceremony at the 15th Judicial District Court introducing more than 30 new attorneys. Guest speaker for the ceremony, Don Washington, explained that the Red Mass fall tradition dates back to the days when all courts closed during the summer. Ah, the days of lounging around all summer â?¦ But now Party Girl encourages everyone to get outside and celebrate the end of summer and start of fall!
